SURF ZONE FORECAST
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HONOLULU HI
700 PM HST TUE MAR 8 2011

OAHU-
700 PM HST TUE MAR 8 2011

Surf along north facing shores will be building from 3 to 5 feet to 10 to 14 ft by Wednesday afternoon.

Surf along west facing will be rising from 2 to 3 feet to 5 to 8 feet by Wednesday afternoon.

Surf along east facing shores will be 2 to 3 feet through Wednesday.

Surf along south facing shores will be flat to occasional 2 feet through Wednesday.

Outlook through Monday Mar 14: a north-northwest swell arrives Wednesday reaching near advisory levels for northerly exposures by the afternoon hours. It is likely to exceed 15 feet Thursday. Surf will drop thereafter then level off with the highest surf reaching double overhead into the weekend. Another larger northwest swell appears likely for Monday. Small wind chop will persist along windward reefs through the week. The south shore will remain generally flat with a few inconsistent knee to thigh high sets coming through. A small southern hemisphere ground swell may show during the second half of next week.

Surf heights are forecast heights of the face or front of waves. The surf forecast is based on the significant wave height, the average height of the one third largest waves, in the zone of maximum refraction. Some waves may be more than twice as high as the significant wave height. Expect to encounter rip currents in or near any surf zone.
