About Us
The Surf Bus is a family-run tour company based on the North Shore of Oahu, which offers guests a unique type of tour where you actually get off the bus to do something and have some fun! Being North Shore local residents, we’ll set you up at the best spots for your activity, so you know you are doing what locals do! As we’ve watched too many tour buses driving by or stopping for quick snapshots, we realized how much visitors miss out on the North Shore of Oahu. And so it became our goal to design a Hawaii Tour where you can have a real North Shore experience! All the activities are stuff we do ourselves as part of our daily North Shore living routine. Lucky, huh? But wait, we want to share it all with you!
Our wonderful guides are part of our ohana: Sam, Harry, Keoki, and Acey have embraced our philosophy to the fullest and are ready to share their Hawaiian knowledge and relaxed island pace to make sure you have the best day on The Surf Bus!
Justin Remais
Hawaii resident for over 20 years, Justin is an outdoor aficionado. From spearfishing to surfing, diving and mountain biking, Justin loves it all! He has been a surfer since he was 10 and also holds a 100-ton captain’s license, as well as sailing and diesel mechanics certificate. He has sailed around the world doing what he loves and has set anchor in Hawaii where he charges 30-foot waves whenever they are out there. His stoke in life will show in whatever he does and his passion is to share with you his favorite outdoor adventures.
Leila Alii
Originally from Brazil, Leila has been living in Hawaii for over a decade. She was a professional bodyboarder, top-rated at the world tour for 10 years and the only rider to ever get 2 perfect 10-point rides at the famous Banzai Pipeline. Leila speaks Portuguese, Spanish, French, and a little Japanese, which she learned while traveling the world during her professional athletic career.
Sam Hamilton
Sam was our 2nd ever hire and remains with us full time. Sam is hardworking, loyal, reliable and easygoing. His passions are hiking, healthy living, music, and his two beautiful boys. Sam has been an Oahu Nature Guide for over 10 years and gives an excellent balance of Hawaii facts and history coupled with music selections from local artists on his tour.
Acey Ferreira
Mr. Aloha, The Happy Portuguese Hawaiian takes good care of everybody and gives it his all every time. So much so that he often ends up doing other Private Tours with our guests after their North Shore Experience. His tours often take in a few extra stops to treat everyone to some of our unique island flavors. Acey’s personal passions are classic cars, motorcycles, family, and food.
Harry Harrison
We are lucky to have Harry full time, he is an outgoing, fun, and caring individual. Harry pays attention to details on the tour, ensuring those who need that little bit extra feel comfortable at every stop we do. He shines so much in our Reviews that we have new guests asking for him as their guide for their first time, all the time.
Keoki Hufana
Local Boy “Keo” was North Shore Surf Bus’ first employee. Keo is a Union Mason by trade but still moonlights and weekends with us. Keo is the kind of guy who likes to be positive, helpful and busy, even participating in outreach programs on top of all that. He’s becoming quite avid on Facebook and you can follow his adventures there.

The Surf Bus takes guests from Waikiki to the North Shore to spend the day and do activities, visit Haleiwa town, get close to Hawaiian green sea turtles, and simply cruise on the best beaches on the island of Oahu!
